The Concerned Black Men of Richmond had our Etiquette Pt2 event at Ristorante La Grotta on May 20th.  There were five mentors and twelve mentees in attendance.  This has been noted as our signature event by some of our members.  We always look forward to this outing.

The owners of La Grotta have opened their world class establishment for this occasion at no charge since 2010.  Andrea and Antonio Capece see the importance of instilling proper fine dining etiquette in young people.  They have witness the lack of dining protocol especially during prom season.

This year Andrea provided handouts displaying  the appropriate way to use and place utensils during a meal.  We were then served an exquisite five course meal starting with Bruschetta.  Then there was a cold thinly sliced veal appetizer with aged cheese and melon followed by  pasta with fettuccine and ravioli.  For the main course,  there was a choice of fish, veal, or chicken.  All were presented with the precision and artistry that Tony is famous for.  The dining experience would not have been completed without the Italian classic desert Tiramisu.  This was truly a meal fit for royalty!

Our waitress commented that she had never been told “thank you” so many times by patrons in her experiences serving  there!  It really made our hearts glad to hear that!

After the meal was completed,  we were given a tour of the kitchen.  One of our mentees, Malik Mayo is an aspiring sous chef. He was taken behind the line by Chef Tony to show him where he performs his magic.

This was truly an awesome experience for our mentees.  Special thanks goes out to Andrea & Tony Capece and the staff of Ristorante La Grotta for going the extra mile in making this event a success.

Thanks to each of you, our donors, for assisting the Concerned Black Men of Richmond in putting an esteem building program such as this together.  Words cannot express our gratitude!

God bless each of you, and we hope that you consider us for contributions in the future.
