Greetings all,
The Concerned Black Men of RVA conducted the “Etiquette Essentials” activity on Saturday, April 13. It was conducted in the conference room of the 21 Building where our office is located and was well attended by the youth as well as mentors. We started by going over what is expected of them while attending the fine dining activity at Ristorante La Grotta this month. Most of the mentees in attendance have participated in the activity in the past and we asked them to share their past experience with the group. Each of them had a different perspective and was able to expound on the importance of conducting themselves properly in a fine dining establishment.
This year we added a trip to the Science Museum of Virginia to see a movie in the Dome Theatre entitled “Wild Africa”. This was a first time seeing an IMAX movie for a couple of the mentees and they really enjoyed the experience.
Everyone had a great time during this activity and was very well behaved!
The Concerned Black Men of RVA cannot thank you all enough for your interest and support of our organization. We strive to engage the mentees in activity that enhance their life skills and increases their intellectual curiosity. Your support ensures that money will not be an impediment to our mission in caring for our youth. By impacting the young men we impact the community and by impacting the community we impact the world.
Sincerely,
Timothy Mallory

Greetings all,
The Concerned Black Men of Richmond, Inc. held our 2nd Manners Workshop on Saturday the 17th of November at Franklin Military Academy. Again, the event was coordinated by Past President Wayne Rachel, Sr. and conducted by Elizabeth Kirven. There was a great turnout of both mentees and mentors.
Ms. Kirven’s workshop required the boys to write about events in their lives that described happiness, friend interaction, their uniqueness as well as family perception of themselves.
She also discussed table manners, job interviewing etiquette and wardrobe selection. The boys got to interact with each other and the entire group by practicing the various items that were discussed.
We presented Ms. Kirven with a gift certificate for coming all the way from Maryland to conduct this workshop. The Concerned Black Men of Richmond, Inc. really appreciate her dedication to our organization!
Again we would like to thank each person and organization that contributed to the Concerned Black Men of Richmond, Inc. Your contributions have been instrumental in ensuring that we can continue to provide impactful programs to young men in the Richmond area. We hope we can count on your patronage in the future.
Sincerely,
Tim Mallory

Greetings and salutations!!
We are excited about the “Kick Off” of our new mentoring sessions which started last month. Our first session started with an in depth discussion on manners. The topic, entitled “Manners, Where Have They Gone?” was coordinated by our Past President, Wayne Rachel, Sr. This event was held at the 4th Police Precinct in Richmond and featured Ms. Elizabeth Kirven with the Corvel Corporation in Richmond, Virginia.
There were 8 mentees and 7 mentors that participated. It was an interactive program where we engaged the youth on the important role that proper manners will play in their lives. They were required to speak as well as write about how they could be impacted utilizing the techniques discussed.
Again we would like to thank each person and organization that contributed to the Concerned Black Men of Richmond, Inc. Your contributions have been instrumental in ensuring that we can continue to provide programs to young men in the Richmond area. We hope we can count on your patronage in the future.
Sincerely,
Tim Mallory
